The Role
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Procurement and Purchasing, the Procurement Business Partner will take ownership of end-to-end procurement activity across all NZKS business units. This is a critical hire within a newly structured and actively developing procurement function, and one that requires an experienced, fully autonomous operator from day one.
This role is based in Auckland or Nelson, though we are open to Christchurch and other regions for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, from refining business requirements and developing go-to-market strategies, through to tendering, RFQs, RFPs, evaluation frameworks, and contract lifecycle management
- Identify and communicate commercial and contractual risks clearly to internal stakeholders, providing practical guidance on how to manage and mitigate them
- Partner directly with operational and functional leaders across all NZKS business units.
- Champion procurement as a value-add function internally, building buy-in through demonstrated commercial outcomes rather than policy enforcement
- Bring stakeholders on the procurement transformation journey through credibility, practical support, and visible delivery
- Establish and manage supplier relationships, including supporting SRM programmes
- Provide mentoring support to team members and key stakeholders.
Key Skills And Experience Required
- 10+ years of procurement experience in a complex, operational environment
- Proven end-to-end procurement capability across tendering, contracting, and supplier management
- Exceptional business partnering skills, with a track record of working credibly alongside operational and functional leaders at all levels
- Strong internal influencing capability, with the confidence to advocate for the procurement process and hold the line when challenged, without relying on positional authority
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous or evolving environments, with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and finding workable solutions
- Demonstrated contract negotiation skills across commercially significant supplier relationships
- Corporate, private sector background required; FMCG, primary industries, or manufacturing preferred
- Experience across engineering, construction, facilities management, ICT, or marketing categories advantageous
