Trade Sales Assistant

Our Petone team is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and building strong, long-term relationships with our customers. We're looking for an energetic and customer-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being part of a supportive and collaborative team.

This is a full-time role working 42 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, with the following hours:

Tuesday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm

Saturday: 8:30am – 3:00pm

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, solving problems and being part of a busy trade-focused environment.

Are you an experienced salesperson who loves helping customers find what they need for the job they're doing? Having knowledge of PPE, hardware, engineering supplies, tools or workwear will be a definite advantage.

This isn't your standard sales role! It's varied, hands-on and rewarding, with a mix of customer service, sales, store operations, stock management and some manual handling.

Key Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for customers entering the Trade Centre.
• Understand customer requirements and provide solutions from our extensive product range.
• Deliver outstanding customer service that drives repeat business and customer loyalty.
• Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products and services.
• Liaise with suppliers and support teams to ensure customer needs are met accurately and on time.
• Assist with maintaining store presentation and visual merchandising standards.
• Replenish stock and maintain appropriate stock rotation.
• Handle, pack and dispatch inward and outward goods.
• Assist with maintaining accurate inventory and stock records.
• Contribute to a positive, safe and productive team environment.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Experience in retail, sales and/or a trade-related environment.
• Passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Sales focused with a desire to achieve results.
• Comfortable with manual handling and being on your feet throughout the day.
• Competent computer skills, including point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office.
• A reliable team player who enjoys contributing to team success.
