About The Role

As a Service Technician, you’ll take the wheel of our fully equipped mobile testing van and work directly with customers across Auckland. This customer-facing role combines hands-on technical work with proactive relationship building to maintain Steel & Tube’s strong presence in the Auckland region. You’ll operate the mobile workshop to test, certify, repair and maintain lifting and height safety equipment, while promoting our testing programme and wider product range.

You’ll plan regular customer visits using the service register, conduct on-site testing and repairs, keep lifting registers and customer data updated, issue timely invoices and stock the van for immediate service and sales opportunities. Every visit adds value through excellent service, compliance support and identifying opportunities to grow the Chain & Rigging business as part of the wider One Company offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Fixed-Term 12-month contract
• Conducting on-site testing, certification, repairs and maintenance of lifting and height safety equipment
• Promoting the mobile testing programme to existing and new customers
• Managing customer schedules and registers to ensure regular face-to-face service and compliance
• Identifying sales opportunities and introducing the full Steel & Tube product range
• Maintaining accurate records, stock levels and issuing invoices promptly
• Delivering outstanding customer service while achieving individual targets
• Ensuring all work meets Health & Safety and quality standards

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical or servicing experience is a real advantage, but we’re open to keen and eager candidates from other industries
• Top attitude – self-motivated, proactive and reliable with a willingness to learn
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to build lasting relationships
• Computer literacy for data entry, registers and basic systems (training provided)
• Good communicator who enjoys working independently and as part of a team
