An exciting opportunity to join our Engagement Team and help ensure community voices are heard and reflected in Council decision-making.
About the team | Ko te rōpū nei
The Engagement Team are responsible for gathering community views and preferences to help other teams and our elected members make decisions. They develop relationships across Council and within our communities to build trust and increase participation, so the projects we deliver are fit for purpose.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei
Our Engagement Advisors work on a wide variety of projects and engage the community from ideas gathering through to formal consultation. We ensure council proposals are well communicated and understood by the community in order to collect meaningful feedback.
Working in our passionate, collaborative team, you will be involved in:
- Preparing easy-to-understand information for residents
- Identifying key audiences and connecting with stakeholders and community groups
- Analysing qualitative and quantitative feedback
- Writing and presenting reports for our elected members

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
Our ideal applicant will:
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification such as social or political sciences
- Have experience running consultations or in an engagement role, preferably within local government
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
- Be a people person, invested in ensuring the voices of our communities are heard on the issues that matter most to them

- Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
- Position - Full-time, permanent
- Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street
- Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $96,465 to $107,183 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
