STUDYPLUS CONSULTANTS LIMITED

MR SINGH BRICK AND BLOCK LAYERING LIMITED, are seeking a skilled and reliable Bricklayer to join our growing construction team. The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of bricklaying and masonry work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and complying with all health and safety requirements.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

Salary: NZD $26.00–$40.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Measure and prepare work areas for bricklaying and masonry work.
  • Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, partitions, retaining walls, chimneys, fireplaces, arches, and other structures.
  • Mix, prepare, and apply mortar, cement, and other bonding materials.
  • Cut and shape bricks, blocks, and masonry materials using hand and power tools.
  • Install damp-proof courses, reinforcing materials, and insulation where required.
  • Check alignment, levels, and dimensions to ensure accuracy and quality of workmanship.
  • Repair and restore existing brick and block structures.
  • Clean, point, and finish masonry work to the required standard.
  • Operate and maintain bricklaying tools and equipment safely.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and other tradespeople to complete projects within required timeframes.
  • Follow workplace health and safety policies and ensure compliance with the New Zealand Building Code and industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised worksite.

Skills and Experience

  • A New Zealand Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in Bricklaying, Masonry, or a related trade; or
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience as a Bricklayer or assisting as helper to bricklayer.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of bricklaying techniques, construction materials, and masonry methods.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence is preferred but not essential.
