Te Tūranga | The role

These are newly created roles shaping the future of product management playing a critical role in ensuring our products are safe, compliant, commercially strong and designed with customers’ best interests at heart. Join our dynamic Product Management team as a Product Solution Manager or Senior Product Solution Manager, where you’ll play a key role in managing product risks, incidents, and remediations. You’ll take ownership of identifying, assessing, and managing product-related risks in our portfolios, while ensuring customer issues are understood, quantified, and remediated promptly and effectively. A key part of these roles is shaping incidents, issues and remediations by confirming root causes, quantifying affected customer populations, and defining business requirements so that customers receive fair and timely outcomes. The Senior Product Manager role is broader, more strategic, includes leadership, coaching, and portfolio-level responsibilities. The Product Manager role is more focused on execution, delivery, and day to day management of specific outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Analysis and delivery: Lead structured analysis for product and risk-related change. Run workshops, gather requirements, and translate needs into actionable specifications. Work with stakeholders to ensure high-quality design. Define acceptance criteria and support testing.
  • Risk & Compliance: Effectively manage risks and ensure compliance with New Zealand’s financial services regulations. Propose optimal risk appetite settings. Identify and mitigate emerging or systemic risks. Shape customer incidents and issues from discovery through resolution. Conduct root-cause analysis and confirm problem definitions. Perform population sizing to quantify affected customers. Develop high-quality business requirements for remediation activity. Partner with remediation, conduct, legal, and operational teams to ensure solutions are timely, fair and compliant.
  • Strategic Product Development: Create and execute product strategies and product development improvements. Provide insights to inform product improvements and simplification. Provide remediation lessons learned to the broader product portfolio to embed continuous improvement within our portfolios.
  • Ensure Business Outcomes are met: Ensure initiatives deliver clear, measurable business outcomes that meet stakeholder needs including senior leadership, customers, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Work closely with business, remediation and technology stakeholders, building strong relationships across all levels of the organization to define requirements, solve problems, and deliver at pace.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of learning, coach and mentor team members, and stay ahead of industry trends and competitor innovations.
  • Thought Leadership: Present compelling business cases, lead strategic analysis, and communicate product strategy to senior management and cross-functional teams.

You’ll succeed in this role if you

  • Are someone who cares about doing what’s right for customers - ensuring our products are well-governed, compliant, and delivering fair outcomes every time.
  • Have experience in banking or financial services, ideally with exposure to lending products, although not a strict requirement if you have the aptitude to learn and demonstrate a growth mindset.
  • Are comfortable navigating product risk, compliance expectations, and customer outcomes
  • Bring strong analytical skills to critical remediation activity - you enjoy root-cause analysis, quantifying impacts; validating and shaping data led decisions.
  • Can shape up issues and incidents clearly, including population sizing and defining remediation needs including documenting business requirements that meet agreed outcomes.
  • Communicate effortlessly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, adapting your style as needed.
  • Can influence without authority and build strong relationships across ASB.
  • Enjoy working in environments that are adapting to change and where you help define processes, uplift capability, and build something that will last.
