Senior Business Analyst - Regulatory Change (Payments)

We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team; this is an exciting opportunity to lead complex business analysis across regulatory change initiatives within our Payments domain, and influence outcomes that are delivered better, sooner, and safer in line with the ASB Delivery Framework.

Te Tūranga | The Role

As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll play a critical leadership role across the Payments stream supporting AML/CTF -related regulatory change.

Working closely with Business, Financial Crime Compliance, and delivery teams, you’ll act as a trusted advisor bringing structure to ambiguity, enabling informed decision-making, and ensuring outcomes align with regulatory, customer, and organisational priorities.

You’ll:

  • Lead complex business analysis activity, shaping solution direction and supporting high-quality delivery decisions
  • Ensure expected business outcomes are clearly defined and embedded into delivery decisions
  • Assess end-to-end impacts across people, process, compliance, governance, and technology
  • Act as the key link between Business, Financial Crime Compliance, and delivery teams
  • Apply the ASB Delivery Framework, standards, and controls to support safe and effective delivery
  • Navigate ambiguity and complexity through structured analysis and clear insights
  • Provide analysis leadership, setting quality standards and modelling strong analytical practice
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders to resolve complex issues and drive outcomes
  • Lead process transformation, including design, testing, and implementation of changes for compliance reporting and monitoring
  • Build and share domain expertise across the International Payments ecosystem, policies, and regulatory standards
  • Drive a culture of knowledge sharing and uplift analytical capability across the team
  • Coach and mentor analysts to strengthen requirements definition, validation, and overall BA maturity

You’re a highly experienced analyst who thrives in complex, regulated environments—bringing clarity, influencing outcomes, and leading others to succeed.

You’ll bring:

  • Deep domain expertise in AML/CTF, Correspondent Banking, and international payments compliance
  • Strong experience delivering within Agile environments, ideally across regulatory or financial crime initiatives
  • Experience in developing and embedding end-to-end operational processes and controls
  • Proven capability across enterprise analysis, solution assessment & validation, and risk management
  • Advanced critical thinking and decision-making skills, with strong requirements definition and management experience
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement capability, including at senior levels
  • Strong facilitation, estimation, and problem-solving capability
  • A curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and better risk outcomes
  • Minimum 10+ years’ core analysis experience, including 5+ years in financial crime, compliance, or payments domains
