This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional to join one of the premium South Island employers. As Food & Beverage Assistant Supervisor, you will report directly to the Staff Club Supervisor, University of Otago Union as part of a diverse hospitality operation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the supervisor of the Staff Club Café.
• Providing friendly and professional service in the cafe.
• Ensuring that all Hospitality Services exceed the expectations of our clients.
• Help to build and develop a highly motivated high performing hospitality team.
• Ensuring that all aspects of our services embrace and implement the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the University’s Māori and Pacific Strategic Frameworks.

This position will suit a person with proven hospitality experience. You will have demonstrated leadership qualities and significant experience in similar venues. Excellent people and relationship management skills are an absolute must.

You will be a self-starter and have the ability to think on your feet as you stamp your own personality onto the role. You will pride yourself in your outstanding customer service skills and have immaculate presentation.

You will thrive in an environment where you can work at a fast pace whilst unsupervised and still maintain a strong customer focus. These roles will suit someone who is self-motivated and have an easy going and friendly manner. Barista knowledge and experience, as well as sound food handling and preparation skills are a key requirement for this role.

About our team | Mō te tīma

The University Union is a commercial university owned operation comprising of 22 business units in 17 locations around campus. It is part of the University’s Campus and Collegiate Life Services. The business units are divided into three major areas of operation, College Catering, Retail and Food & Beverage.

This is a permanent, part time (32 hours per week) position on a rostered basis. This position is based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for this role is $26.96 to $28.04 per hour. Top of range $28.57.
