About the role

We have exciting opportunities available within our Livestock Team for Assistant Farm Managers on our broiler farms, including both a 6-month fixed-term role and a permanent position. Please let us know in your application whether you would like to be considered for both opportunities or just one.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager and step into full accountability in their absence—ensuring the farm operates efficiently, safely, and to Tegel’s high standards. You’ll balance hands-on animal husbandry with strategic planning and operational oversight, playing a key role in producing high-quality flocks in a cost-effective way.

This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving challenges on the ground.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same, but you can expect to:

  • Oversee daily livestock husbandry and animal welfare
  • Foster a positive team culture, including training and performance support
  • Step up as Farm Manager relief when required
  • Ensure health & safety compliance, proactively managing risks
  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs to keep operations running smoothly
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support problem-solving projects

What you'll bring

We’re looking for someone with the right mindset and practical experience:

  • Experience in livestock management (broiler or breeder operations preferred)
  • A genuine passion for and commitment to animal welfare
  • Strong communication, numeracy, and decision-making skills
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Hands-on, physically capable, and mechanically minded
  • A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
