About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Specimen Reception team at our Christchurch laboratory on a fixed-term, part-time position of 70 hours per fortnight.
Reporting to the Section Leader, you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while helping deliver high-quality service to both internal teams and external clients.
As the first point of contact for incoming samples, this role requires strong attention to detail and excellent customer service. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of daily operations, including the accurate receipt and handling of specimens, while supporting client needs as required. A professional, friendly, and solution-focused approach is essential in this fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, register, and process incoming laboratory samples accurately.
- Act as the first point of contact for clients and visitors.
- Prepare and dispatch consumables to clients across the region.
- Collect samples from local clients as required.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal teams and customers.
- Support a culture of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in line with laboratory protocols and standards.
