Urgently looking for a Store manager for busy Christchurch based Indian grocery store!
S4SPICE is a specialised Indian grocery store based in Christchurch, offering a wide range of authentic Kerala food products, spices, fresh produce, frozen foods, and household essentials. We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Store Manager to join our growing team.
This is a full-time permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours per week. The pay rate will be between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- At least 2 years of relevant retail management or supermarket/grocery store management experience; OR
- A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the grocery store.
- Plan and oversee staff rosters and allocate duties.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support store staff.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure high standards of customer service.
- Ensure shelves are well stocked, displayed attractively, and replenished as required.
- Manage stock levels, inventory control, and product ordering.
- Liaise with suppliers and coordinate deliveries.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to improve store profitability.
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally.
- Ensure pricing is accurate and promotional activities are implemented correctly.
- Maintain records relating to sales, stock, and staff attendance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and food handling standards.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, banking, and daily store reconciliations.
- Monitor store security and minimise stock loss.
- Assist with marketing and promotional initiatives to attract customers.
- Ensure the store is clean, organised, and presented to a high standard at all times.
- Report directly to the business owner and provide regular updates on store performance.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required for the successful operation of the business.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong retail management skills.
- Good communication and customer service abilities.
- Experience working in a grocery, supermarket, or retail environment.
- Knowledge of Indian and Kerala food products would be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
