Social Sciences Teacher
Part-time, fixed term until the end of 2026 [up to 0.7FTTE – TBC]
We require a part-time fixed-term teacher with a passion for Philosophy and Politics, and ideally a familiarity with Senior Social Studies standards, to join our Social Science Department from the beginning of Term 3, 2026 until the end of the school year, 2026. Applicants are required to be familiar with the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA and have a current practising certificate. There is a possibility that this role could be extended for 2027.
You need to be currently registered and qualified as a NZ teacher and be able to build strong relationships with staff and students.

Educational Interpreter [10 hours per week]
Fixed term, part-time, term time only from 20 July – 10 November 2026
Te Puna Wai o Waipapa – Hagley College is looking for an Educational Interpreter to provide equitable access to learning, enabling effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers. In addition to interpreting, the Educational Interpreter plays an important role in supporting the student’s independence and preparing them for life beyond school. This is a part time, fixed term, term time only, position for 10 hours per week [dependent on students’ timetable] starting from 20 July 2026.
Applicants must have:
- Strong proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL)
- Relevant interpreting qualification and/or demonstrated experience in educational interpreting
- Understanding of Deaf culture and inclusive education practices
- Awareness of the developmental role of an Educational Interpreter in fostering independence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a secondary school setting is an advantage
- Registered with the Sign Language Interpreters Association of New Zealand
- a calm organised approach to work, with the ability to readily adapt to changing needs.
Remuneration is provided from the Ministry of Education NZSL School Funding and is dependent on the level of skills and experience. Appointment is subject to a police vet and safety check.

Homework Study Support Centre – Secondary Tutor
Fixed term, part-time, term time only – 5 hours per week
Te Puna Wai o Waipapa – Hagley College is seeking a Secondary Tutor for our Homework and Study Support Centre. This position is fixed term, part-time, term time only commencing on 21 July 2026 and ending on 26 November 2026. The hours are 2.5 hours on a Tuesday and Thursday evening (5 hours total per week).
If you have:
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills within the context of a culturally and otherwise diverse student and community base.
- A high level of cultural awareness and cross cultural communication skill is required.
- Have the ability to think on their feet, contribute to solutions, and to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other key staff across the organisation.
- Have the willingness and ability to liaise successfully with, and be responsive to, a variety of stakeholders including students, teachers, families, bilingual tutors, and other school staff.
- Have a commitment to the educational opportunities for refugee background communities.
