Cafe/Restaurant Manager

We are a well established cafe and restaurant located in Ellerslie, Auckland, where locals gather to dine, drink and socialise. Our chef-driven menu is built around fresh, seasonal ingredients, and we are known for our brunch, our beverages and our desserts. We are looking for an experienced Cafe/Restaurant Manager to lead the day to day running of the business and our front of house and kitchen teams.

This role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Planning menus in consultation with chefs

  • Planning and organising special functions and catering

  • Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget

  • Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions

  • Ensuring dining facilities comply with health and food safety regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance

  • Conferring with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service

  • Selecting, training and supervising waiting and kitchen staff

  • Taking reservations, greeting guests and overseeing the taking of orders

  • Setting staff rosters and managing daily opening and closing of the premises

  • Pay rate: $35.00 per hour

  • Hours per week: minimum 30 hours, maximum 55 hours per week, must be available over weekends

The successful applicant must have

  • At least SIX years or above of management experience as a Cafe/Restaurant Manager

  • Proven experience leading and supervising a team

  • Experience managing budgets, purchasing, stock and financial records

  • Knowledge of coffee, food and beverage service (an advantage)

  • Good communication and customer service skills
