The Business
Our client is one of New Zealand's fastest-growing project management and construction companies and they're on a serious upward trajectory. Built to challenge the way projects are delivered, this business has thrown out the rigid, outdated processes the industry has relied on for too long and replaced them with something genuinely better.
They bring together project management, design management, procurement, and in-house construction under one roof, giving clients faster decisions, fewer surprises, and better commercial outcomes. Their portfolio spans exciting, varied work across commercial fit-out, retail and hospitality, delivering for some of New Zealand's leading brands across Auckland.
This is a business where innovation isn't just a buzzword, it's baked into how they operate, from real-time reporting and smart digital platforms through to a team culture that genuinely backs fresh thinking and different perspectives.
Due to continued growth, they're now looking for a Project Manager to join the team and hit the ground running.
The Opportunity
This isn't a role where you'll sit behind a desk pushing paper. You'll be front and centre owning your projects from inception through to handover, managing client relationships, and coordinating the full delivery team. You'll be given real autonomy and genuine support, with a leadership team that's accessible, experienced, and invested in your success.
You'll manage the full project lifecycle across a diverse range of commercial projects, coordinating design consultants, procurement, construction and fitout delivery while keeping clients informed and programs firmly on track.
What you'll be doing
- Lead projects end-to-end, from initial brief and feasibility through to practical completion and close-out
- Develop and maintain programs, ensuring milestones are met and risks are identified and managed early
- Coordinate design consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, keeping all parties aligned and moving
- Be the primary point of contact for clients throughout delivery, building trust and long-term relationships
- Support procurement strategy, including scope definition and subcontractor engagement
- Monitor budgets and costs, flagging variances and contributing to financial reporting
- Provide proactive, clear communication, clients should never have to chase for an update
- Contribute to repeat business and referrals by delivering an exceptional client experience every time
Who you are
You're not just technically solid; you bring energy, accountability, and genuine ownership to everything you work on. You communicate clearly, stay cool under pressure, and enjoy the problem-solving that comes with delivering complex construction projects.
You likely have:
- 3-7+ years of project management experience in construction, fit-out, or a related built environment discipline
- A proven track record of delivering commercial projects on time and within budget
- Strong knowledge of NZ construction contracts and procurement processes
- Experience with project management platforms (Procore is a bonus)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
- A solutions-focused mindset
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar
Flexibility & support
This business understands that great work doesn't always happen between 8am and 5pm, and they trust their people to manage their time like professionals. What's on offer:
- Genuine flexibility, output matters more than hours clocked
- A mentoring, supportive leadership team not a micromanaging one
- Real autonomy to run your projects your way, backed by solid systems and processes
- A modern, centrally located CBD office, well connected and easy to get to
- Investment in the right tools and technology so you can do your best work
Professional development is actively supported through training, industry involvement, and mentoring from a leadership team with deep experience across NZ and international markets. If you want to build a career, not just hold a job, this is the environment to do it in.
This role is being managed confidentially on behalf of our client. Please apply now to register your interest and we will be in touch to share full details with shortlisted candidates.
