At Farrah’s, we’re passionate about creating world-class products and continuously improving how we operate. We’re looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring our plant and equipment run at peak performance.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment across our Upper Hutt site. You’ll lead preventative maintenance initiatives, respond to breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting capital projects, managing contractors, and ensuring all work meets strict food safety and health & safety standards.
This role includes participation in a 24/5 on-call roster, providing support for breakdowns outside of standard hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults
- Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Manage spare parts inventory and workshop organisation
- Drive continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and H&S requirements
- Coordinate and manage contractors on site
About You
You’re a proactive and solutions-focused engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You enjoy problem-solving, take ownership of your work, and are always looking for ways to improve systems and processes.
You’ll bring
- A relevant engineering qualification (trade or tertiary)
- Electrical certification (preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience in FMCG or food manufacturing
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems
- A solid understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
