Trainee Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – Egress Specialisation

As an AME (Egress) Trainee based at RNZAF Base Ohakea, you will play a vital role in supporting the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Working with our high-performing team, you'll assist in delivering serviced
T-6C Texan aircraft and critical egress systems (ejection seats).
This role is heavily focused on your growth. You will be fully supported with a structured, approved training program through an external provider to help you build a long-term technical career.
Your Day-to-day Will Include
- Hands-on Maintenance: Carrying out delegated maintenance tasks and inspections to the highest technical standards.
- Safety & Precision: Strictly adhering to aviation maintenance manuals, checklists, and safety procedures.
- Tool & Asset Control: Ensuring all specialized tooling is correctly managed and maintained.
- Documentation: Accurate logging of maintenance data in our computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Continuous Improvement: Actively suggesting ways to improve team efficiency and workplace performance.

You are a team player with excellent communication skills, a strong mechanical aptitude, and an eye for detail. You thrive in a structured environment where safety and continuous improvement are the standard.
What You Bring To The Team
- An NZ-recognised Aeronautical Engineering Certificate (Level 3 or 4).
- Proven mechanical aptitude and a hands-on technical skillset.
- The ability to read, interpret, and precisely follow technical manuals.
- Solid computer literacy.
- A strong, demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
- The ability to obtain and maintain Airbus and RNZAF security clearances.
