Macdonald Steel is a well-established, privately owned steel distributor with a track record of delivering quality steel products for more than 60 years. The role
This Is a Rare Opportunity To Step Into The Senior Most Finance Role Within The Business, Partnering Closely With The Director And Leadership Team. At Its Core, The Role Covers All Aspects Of Financial Control Including Management Reporting, Forecasting, Treasury, Tax Compliance And Oversight Of The Finance Function. However, The Role Extends Well Beyond The Traditional Remit. You Will Act As a True Business Partner, Providing Commercial Insight And Supporting Key Decisions Across The Organisation. This Includes Involvement In:
- Commercial analysis of new product lines and investment decisions
- Costing and margin analysis across the business
- Driving systems and process improvements, including NetSuitedevelopment
- Supporting strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects from leadership
- Acting as a trusted financial sounding board across the business
You will lead a small, capable finance team while remaining hands on where required, ensuring high quality reporting, strong controls and continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will bring a blend of technical capability and commercial mindset. You will ideally have:
- CA qualification (or equivalent) and ideally Big 4 or reputable second tier firm foundation.
- Experience in a hands on commercial post qualification
- Strong grounding in financial reporting, tax and core accounting principles
- Sound commercial acumen and an engaging, confident personality, capable of communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a smaller, close knit team environment.
