Our Head of Regulatory Compliance is seeking a dedicated, resourceful Personal Assistant to provide high‑level support and help navigate the fast‑moving and varied demands of the role. No two days will look the same — you’ll tackle complex challenges, solve problems creatively, and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing your work contributes directly to the wellbeing of our community.
The Regulatory Compliance Unit plays a vital role in ensuring Christchurch remains a safe, healthy, and well‑managed place to live, work, and visit. Our responsibilities include alcohol licensing, food safety, environmental health, premises licensing, animal management, compliance and investigations, and LIM information.
Our dedicated Customer Service & Triage team supports these functions, helping ensure individuals and organisations meet their regulatory responsibilities for the public good.

You’ll be the Unit anchor, the key “go to” person — adaptable, proactive, and always one step ahead. You’ll ensure the Head of Regulatory Compliance is well‑supported, informed, and able to focus on strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Diary management — proactively coordinating schedules and aligning commitments with priorities.
- Managing communications — first response to mail, email, and phone call enquiries; redirecting, delegating, and prioritising as needed.
- Preparing information — identifying priority issues, researching, and compiling background material.
- Meeting support — attending meetings and providing accurate, timely minutes.
- Media and LGOIMA coordination — managing responses for the Unit.
- Stakeholder relationships — building trust and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Handling confidential information — managing sensitive material such as employee records and strategic documents with discretion.

You’re someone who is technically savvy and anticipates needs before they arise. You work with initiative, have an engaging and positive demeanour, stay calm under pressure, and can shift between tasks as priorities change. You enjoy challenging work and take pride in delivering excellence.
To Be Successful, You Will Bring
- 6 years’ experience as a Personal Assistant in a large organisation, including 3 years supporting a Senior Manager (or equivalent experience).
- Exceptional accuracy in spelling, grammar, and written communication.
- Strong knowledge of administrative systems and processes.
- Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience managing senior‑level relationships in both formal and informal settings.

- Hours of work - Fulltime Permanent Position
- Location - This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch
- Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $67,635 - to $75,150 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
