Role Overview

As a Fire Systems Tester, you will play a key role in ensuring fire protection systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant New Zealand Standards. You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, installing, and commissioning a wide variety of fire alarm systems—while delivering outstanding customer service on every job.

Service, maintain, test and repair fire alarm systems including Pertonic, Tyco, Ampac, Notifier and others

  • Install and commission fire protection systems across new and existing sites
  • Ensure all work complies with NZ Standards, contractual requirements, and company quality systems
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing and fault diagnosis
  • Prepare clear and accurate documentation, logbooks and service records
  • Liaise with clients to resolve issues and provide professional advice
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades, repairs, and improvements
  • Assist with project work including programming, installation supervision, and commissioning
  • Provide support with site assessments and quoting opportunities
  • Manage your workflow efficiently through effective route planning, time management and stock control

Role requirements include

  • Proven experience working with fire alarm systems and maintenance contracts
  • Strong knowledge of relevant New Zealand fire standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • A proactive approach with strong attention to detail and ownership of work
  • Confidence in dealing with clients and stakeholders professionally
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Availability to participate in a rotating on-call roster
  • Current Full Driver Licence
