The Raspberry Cafe

The Raspberry Cafe, a beloved local establishment in Tai Tapu, Canterbury, is seeking 2 full time permanent Chefs to join their team.

Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food for the café’s brunch, lunch, cabinet food and daily specials.
Planning menus, developing seasonal dish ideas, creating daily specials, and improving existing menu items.
Estimate food requirements and ordering food supplies to ensure sufficient stock is available for daily service.
Check stock levels, identify shortages, and report ordering or maintenance requirements to the Manager.
Discuss food preparation, menu and service issues with the Manager, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
Ensure food preparation is completed on time to meet daily service, cabinet food, special menu and catering requirements, where applicable.
Prepare and cook raw ingredients and menu items to the required standard.
Monitor the quality, taste, presentation and portioning of dishes at all stages of preparation and service.
Ensure each component of a dish is properly prepared, cooked, presented and delivered on time.
Prepare appropriate quantities of food to meet customer demand while minimising food wastage.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with the café’s Food Control Plan.
Ensure statutory and workplace hygiene, health and safety requirements are strictly followed.
Assist with training or guiding junior kitchen staff, where required.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:

At least 2 years of previous relevant work experience OR Relevant Diploma level Qualification.
To be able to work well in a team; enthusiastic and self driven; ability to adapt to change and think outside the box.
