The Raspberry Cafe
The Raspberry Cafe, a beloved local establishment in Tai Tapu, Canterbury, is seeking 2 full time permanent Chefs to join their team.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food for the café’s brunch, lunch, cabinet food and daily specials.
- Planning menus, developing seasonal dish ideas, creating daily specials, and improving existing menu items.
- Estimate food requirements and ordering food supplies to ensure sufficient stock is available for daily service.
- Check stock levels, identify shortages, and report ordering or maintenance requirements to the Manager.
- Discuss food preparation, menu and service issues with the Manager, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
- Ensure food preparation is completed on time to meet daily service, cabinet food, special menu and catering requirements, where applicable.
- Prepare and cook raw ingredients and menu items to the required standard.
- Monitor the quality, taste, presentation and portioning of dishes at all stages of preparation and service.
- Ensure each component of a dish is properly prepared, cooked, presented and delivered on time.
- Prepare appropriate quantities of food to meet customer demand while minimising food wastage.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with the café’s Food Control Plan.
- Ensure statutory and workplace hygiene, health and safety requirements are strictly followed.
- Assist with training or guiding junior kitchen staff, where required.
The successful candidate will require the following skills:
- At least 2 years of previous relevant work experience OR Relevant Diploma level Qualification.
- To be able to work well in a team; enthusiastic and self driven; ability to adapt to change and think outside the box.
- Be Honest and Reliable
- Ability to work on Weekends
- Be punctual
- Have good attention to detail
- Clean Criminal History
Hours & Position
These are full time permanent positions with minimum 30 hours per week.
Pay Rate
- $25- $30 per hour.
