We are a newly established self-storage and storage solutions company committed to providing secure, reliable, and customer-focused storage services. As a growing business, we are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our business while helping establish efficient systems and supporting our planned business expansion.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Determining product and service offerings, product mix, stock levels, and customer service standards.

  • Formulating and implementing purchasing, sales and marketing policies.

  • Setting prices for goods and services based on market conditions, profitability, and business objectives.

  • Promoting and advertising the company's products and storage services to increase sales and customer engagement.

  • Selling storage services and associated retail products while advising customers on suitable storage solutions.

  • Maintaining records of stock levels, sales, financial transactions, and operational performance.

  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, pricing strategies, and financial reports.

  • Assisting with business planning, cost control, profitability analysis, and commercial negotiations.

  • Recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and managing staff.

  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and company policies.

  • Managing all operational matters relating to the company's establishment and ongoing administration, including New Zealand Companies Office obligations, GST requirements, taxation matters, company annual returns, and maintaining statutory records.

  • Developing and implementing operational procedures to improve efficiency and support future business growth.

  • Liaising with suppliers, service providers, accountants, and other stakeholders.

  • Supporting the directors with strategic planning and expansion initiatives as the business continues to grow.

  • Performing other managerial duties consistent with the position.

Skills and Experience

Applicants must have

  • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience as a Retail Manager or in a similar management position.

  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategies, cost control, and financial reporting.

  • Experience in business negotiations with suppliers and service providers.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

  • Strong customer service and sales experience.

  • Experience developing and implementing marketing initiatives.

  • Sound knowledge of inventory and stock management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good computer literacy and experience using business management systems.

  • Ability to work independently and make commercial decisions.

  • Knowledge of New Zealand business compliance requirements, including GST, taxation, Companies Office obligations, and annual returns, will be highly regarded.
