Marine Superintendent

Exciting opportunity, looking for a Marine Supervisor for a Water infrastructure project in Wellington.

This role is fixed term position for the duration of the project, due to conclude in December 2029.

Main Duties:

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day marine operations to ensure both marine and construction activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme, marine operating limits, and project requirements.
  • Provide marine operational leadership, supervision, and technical guidance to Barge Masters, Skippers, marine crews, and subcontractors, and act as the primary project contact for marine site issues.
  • Maintain marine responsibility, planning, and compliance across vessel movements, barge operations, emergency readiness, and stakeholder interfaces including ports, Harbourmaster, and Maritime New Zealand.
  • Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, plant, and equipment.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and programme requirements.
  • Monitor safety performance and maintain compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
  • Manage site productivity, resource allocation, and work sequencing.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and site inspections.
  • Ensure quality assurance documentation and ITP requirements are completed.
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve site issues to minimize project delays.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience on marine, water infrastructure, coastal, wharf, jetty, pipeline, or civil construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Sound understanding of construction methodologies, QA, and HSE requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple work fronts and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Full New Zealand working rights.
  • Willing to work overtime.
