In this role, you will act as a dedicated finance advisor for specific business units , working closely with leadership teams to help them make smart financial decisions. Your job goes well beyond just crunching numbers ; you will use your financial expertise to guide and influence strategy in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. To succeed, you will need to be flexible, resilient, and great at building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to budget holders, providing proactive, relevant, and integrated business and financial insights.
  • Deliver sound analysis and forward-looking financial options to support, inform, or challenge key operational decisions.
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure accurate, strategy-led, and timely financial plans.
  • Connect financial and non-financial data, translating complex information into clear, actionable insights for managers.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of business cases to ensure realistic resourcing, benefit realization, and policy compliance.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members to develop organizational talent.

What You’ll Bring

  • Professional Qualifications: Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CAANZ or equivalent) with 3–4 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and articulate complex messages simply across all levels of an organization (ideally within government).
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, capable of complex problem-solving, strategic thinking, and managing diverse stakeholder interests.
