We have an opportunity to join the Hydro Operations Lead Team. In this role as Site Lead you will be predominately site based, taking ownership of Maraetai and Waipapa Power Stations through leadership to maintain health & safety, budgets, maximise availability and enabling Mercury to be the best electrical generator. You'll work closely with the Hydro leadership group and members of the wider generation Leadership Team, sharing ideas to improve site operations and maintenance, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities.

You will be an active part of our safety intelligence program, every day, safety is what enables us to protect one another, our communities and the taiao (environment) we work with. It powers us to act as kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and move us forward with thought and care at each moment of our days here at mercury. More than a set of rules, this is a safety mindset embedded in every conversation, decision and action.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:

  • Lead, develop and mentor a collaborative team (both direct reports and indirect), ensuring the wellbeing of all involved on your sites
  • Lead from the front creating a culture of care with health,safety, Dam safety and environmental compliance
  • Lead or contribute to comprehensive asset risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the reliability and safety of site operations
  • Manage work prioritisation of routine maintenance using CMMS including ensuring backlogs are managed
  • Operational Management and development of site-based budgeting
  • Oversee asset management ensuring the units are reliable and available
  • Sponsorship and prioritisation of project works
  • Manage and grow relationships with key stakeholders

Tā mātou e kimi nei | We are looking for:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or NZCE Electrical or Mechanical (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in plant operations, process control or maintenance in heavy industry
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team
  • Proficient in maintenance systems and business practices, including budget control
