INTRODUCTION
At Waipuna Hospice, we’re all about delivering compassionate end-of-life care across the Western Bay of Plenty. Our goal is to provide responsive, person-centred care to people living with life-limiting illnesses - often in the comfort of their own homes, as well as in our welcoming inpatient unit in Te Puna for those who need extra support.
We’re a charity powered by passion, courage, teamwork, and community spirit. Our funding is made possible by the generosity of our donors, our fundraising heroes, and our busy charity shops with partial support from the government.
We believe that great care starts with great people, and that’s where YOU come in!
We’re looking for a motivated and relationship-focused Donor Care & Conversion Lead to deliver exceptional supporter experiences while growing and strengthening our donor community.
About The Job
This role is at the heart of our fundraising success - combining donor care, relationship building, and growth.

- Deliver outstanding, empathetic donor care to our supporters
- Build relationships that turn first-time supporters into long-term donors
- Grow regular giving, retention, and supporter engagement through calls, follow-ups, and delivering targeted campaigns
- Use insights to continuously improve how we engage with our community
You’ll play a key role in maximising fundraising income whilst ensuring every supporter feels valued, connected, and inspired to continue their journey with Waipuna Hospice.
About You
You’re someone who brings both heart and results - balancing exceptional customer care with a strong focus on outcomes.
You will bring:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in donor care, customer service, sales, or relationship management
- Confidence in phone-based engagement, with the ability to influence and convert
- Demonstrated success achieving targets related to conversion, retention, or revenue
- Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and experience working with CRM/database systems
What would also be beneficial is:
- Experience in fundraising, not-for-profit, or healthcare environments
- Knowledge of donor stewardship, supporter journeys, and campaign delivery
- Experience growing regular giving or retention programmes
Most importantly, you’ll bring a genuine passion for connecting with people and making a difference in your community.
