Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is seeking a responsive, helpful and customer-focused IT Desktop Engineer to join our IT Department at our Whakatāne campus. In this role, you will provide Level 1 desktop, user and instructional technology support for staff and tauira, helping deliver reliable, practical and timely technology services across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include providing first-level desktop, user and instructional technology support, resolving or escalating issues, completing scheduled maintenance, supporting applications and teaching technologies, and helping staff and tauira use Wānanga IT services confidently.
We are looking for someone with strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and a practical, can-do approach. You will be confident troubleshooting IT issues, communicating clearly with users, and working collaboratively within a supportive team.
You will have a relevant IT qualification at diploma level, or equivalent experience, and a full Class 1 driver’s licence. Ideally, you will also bring at least three years’ helpdesk or desktop support experience, sound knowledge of current operating systems and change control processes, and practical experience with hardware installation, user profile configuration and technical troubleshooting in server and domain-managed environments.
Basic Te Reo Māori skills, a commitment to ongoing development, and confidence working within a values-led environment are important for this role.
