The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fantastic, close-knit team supporting customers through key regulatory and compliance processes. In this role, you’ll provide accurate, timely and clear advice on alcohol licensing, resource management, bylaw compliance and parking-related matters. You’ll work closely with customers, reporting agencies and the District Licensing Committee to ensure applications are processed efficiently, legislative requirements are met, and high-quality administrative support is delivered across the Compliance activity.
Day to day, you’ll be the first point of support for customers navigating alcohol licensing and related compliance processes. You’ll manage enquiries, guide applicants through each stage of the process, vet applications against legislative requirements, and prepare licences, certificates and correspondence for approval.
You’ll also maintain accurate records across licensing, RMA compliance, noise complaints and infringement activity, while coordinating reminders, billing, debt management and manager interview bookings. Working closely with Police, the Medical Officer of Health, Fire and Emergency New Zealand and other stakeholders, you’ll help ensure applications are progressed in a timely and effective way.
A key part of the role is providing high-quality administrative support to the wider Compliance and Monitoring team, including preparing reports, memos, spreadsheets, web content and process documentation. You’ll also be encouraged to identify practical improvements that reduce rework, streamline administration and support better customer outcomes.
To set you up for success, you’ll have
At least three years’ experience in technical administration, ideally within a regulatory, compliance or local government environment.
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and manage enquiries professionally and efficiently.
A good understanding of regulatory processes, legislation and compliance requirements, or the ability to quickly build this knowledge.
Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with applications, records, databases, reporting information and formal correspondence.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft products, along with experience using databases and maintaining web-based information.
Experience contributing to process improvement, including identifying practical ways to reduce rework and improve administrative efficiency.
