Mō te tūranga | About the role
As Mercury's Customer business enters its next stage of growth and transformation, we've created two senior leadership roles - Head of Energy and Head of Multi-product & Telco, each leading a distinct category within Consumer Retail, with clearer accountability, stronger commercial ownership and category leadership.
Reporting to the GM Consumer Retail, these are the commercial decision-makers for their categories. You'll own your category strategy, portfolio architecture and P&L - setting direction through data and insight, shaping the proposition and customer-experience roadmap, and driving sustainable growth and customer value. With full commercial ownership of your category's performance, you'll have the autonomy to resolve ambiguity and make the consequential decisions that shape Mercury's retail portfolio.
The Head of Energy leads Mercury's largest category (electricity and gas); the Head of Multi-product & Telco leads broadband and mobile, driving multi-product household growth, and customer lifetime value. Both lead a team responsible for the portfolio of products, plans, propositions, CX design, product lifecycle and innovation - turning strategy into commercial outcomes.
Mōu | About you
You're a commercially sharp senior leader who takes ownership, sets the agenda and makes things happen - energised by a challenge, comfortable disrupting the norm and bringing others with you. You'll bring:
- 15+ years' experience in senior commercial or strategic leadership roles in complex, competitive, consumer-led organisations - ideally utilities, telecommunications, financial services or consumer retail.
- A track record of developing category strategy and portfolio architecture.
- Proven P&L ownership and delivery of commercial outcomes at scale.
- Proven people leadership; a track record of coaching, developing and retaining talent and building high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and a customer-led mindset, grounded in data and insight.
- The ability to operate with substantial autonomy in complex, competitive and regulated environments.
- Strong influence and communication skills; able to challenge assumptions, drive alignment across senior leadership and lead through complexity.
