We’re looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead our Christchurch transport operation - a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused outcomes across our South Island network.
About The Role - Mō Te Tūranga
As our Transport Manager, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of the Christchurch transport function - leading day-to-day operations while driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading and developing a team of drivers, dispatchers, and loaders
- Overseeing daily transport execution, planning, and fleet utilisation
- Driving performance across DIFOT, productivity, and cost control
- Managing third-party carriers and optimising supplier performance
- Partnering closely with operations teams to ensure efficient freight movement
- Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Dangerous Goods, and regulatory requirements
- Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives, working alongside the Area Manager to implement strategy and lift overall Branch performance

You’re a confident transport leader who can balance operational excellence with strong people leadership.
You are someone who has a diverse leadership style and leads from the front; Whether in the office supporting a team of dispatchers with problem solving and daily decision making, or on the floor supporting the Operations Manager in leading the team to meet daily deadlines and targets.
You are someone that will bring energy to this role, not just in daily leadership but also as a champion of business improvement strategies alongside the Area Manager.
You’ll Also Bring
- Proven leadership experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations
- Experience managing frontline teams in fast-paced environments
- Strong planning and operational capability, with a focus on performance outcomes
- Understanding of NZ transport compliance, health & safety, and dangerous goods
- A practical, visible leadership style - you lead from the front and excel under pressure
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence across stakeholders
- Experience in Transport Management within an owner-driver model business is desirable
