We are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor to lead and strengthen how the Electoral Commission measures, understands, and communicates its performance.
This is a pivotal role working across the organisation to develop meaningful performance indicators, support evaluation activity, and deliver high-quality reporting to governance, Parliament, and the public. You will help ensure the Commission can clearly demonstrate the impact of its work—particularly in the lead-up to and delivery of the General Election.
Partnering closely with Strategy, Risk and Assurance, and Data and Insights teams, you will bring together data, evidence, and narrative to tell a clear and compelling performance story.
The salary for this role is $108,140 - $120,160
Evaluation and performance insights
- Identify and develop meaningful metrics and indicators that demonstrate outcomes and impact
- Advise on practical, efficient approaches to data collection and measurement
- Lead or support evaluations of priority programmes and areas of public interest
- Provide performance insights to support the delivery and monitoring of the General Election
Monitoring and organisational performance
- Maintain oversight of key performance areas, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
- Provide timely, evidence-based updates to the Board, ELT, and external stakeholders
- Support organisation-wide understanding of performance through clear and accessible insights
Reporting and accountability
- Lead the development of key accountability and governance reports, including quarterly reporting and post-election statutory reporting to Parliament
- Produce high-quality, data-driven reports that support informed decision-making
- Ensure reporting is clear, accurate, and tailored to a wide range of audiences
Collaboration and capability building
- Work across teams to build a strong performance culture and improve systems and processes
- Coach and support others to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and reporting capability
- Build trusted relationships across the Commission and with external stakeholders
Mōhou ake | About you
You are an experienced monitoring and evaluation professional with a strong understanding of public sector accountability and performance frameworks. You are confident working with complexity and ambiguity, and you know how to turn data and evidence into clear, meaningful insights.
You bring:
- Significant experience (5+ years) in monitoring, evaluation, and performance measurement.
- Strong understanding of government accountability processes and reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to develop frameworks and indicators that demonstrate impact and outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports for governance and external audiences.
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or building capability in others.
- The ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.
