Remediation Analyst
Southern Cross Health Insurance
Southern Cross Health Insurance is shaping a healthier Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is simple: empowering our members to live well for longer. We're here to give peace of mind through timely access to quality care, inspire healthier living, and lead positive change across the health system. As a New Zealand-owned, member-based organisation, we're building a future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do -- delivering exceptional value for our members and creating an environment where our people thrive.
Now is an exciting time to join us. You'll be part of a high-performing, values-driven team where people are at the heart of everything we do -- and in return for your talent, you'll have the opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be proud of the difference your work makes.
About The Role
We're looking for a Remediation Analyst to join Southern Cross to quantify the impact of potential customer harm and help put things right for our members - working alongside Legal, Risk and business teams to investigate issues, calculate member impact, and make sure remediation is fair and well-evidenced.
This is a permanent, full-time role with hybrid working, based at our Te Kupenga office in Auckland CBD.
Why Join Us?
At Southern Cross, you'll be the analytical engine that helps put things right for our members.
You'll take a problem that's been identified - often surfaced through regulatory, conduct or operational reviews - and turn it into a clear, defensible answer: who was affected, by how much, and what fair remediation looks like. It's meaningful work that calls for sharp analytical judgment, strong technical skills, and the rigour to stand behind every number.
You'll work alongside experienced remediation specialists and analysts, combining data insight with business context to resolve issues and prevent them from happening again.
About The Opportunity
As a Remediation Analyst, you'll quantify member impact arising from regulatory, conduct or operational issues.
Working closely with Legal, Risk, Finance and business subject matter experts, you'll extract and reconcile data from our systems, translate business rules and problem statements into analytical logic to identify impacted members.
At its heart, the work is about establishing what happened, what should have happened, and the difference - then quantifying it so we can make it right. The challenge is in the detail: our data is rich and rarely linear, and the business rules behind every calculation add real complexity.
What You’ll Do
- Quantify the impact on affected members where there may be customer harm
- Investigate, analyse and reconcile data from our systems to support remediation activities, ensuring accurate identification of impacted members and financial outcomes.
- Translate business rules and compliance problem statements into analytical logic, and identify root causes
- Turn your analysis into clear insights that decision-makers can understand and act on
- Produce documentation that is audit-ready and fit for assurance and regulatory review
- Apply established methodologies and controls to keep remediation consistent and defensible
- Support the end-to-end delivery of remediation projects by partnering with a broad range of stakeholders across the business to achieve successful outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, improve and automate how the work is done
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated analytical experience, ideally within financial services, insurance, or another regulated environment
- A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline - Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Data Science or similar
- Proficiency in R and Snowflake SQL, along with intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience with Python and business intelligence (BI) tools would be considered advantageous
- Strong data analysis, reconciliation and financial-impact calculation skills
- The ability to translate analytical findings into clear, practical insights for non-technical audiences
- Experience working on sensitive matters involving customer impact, risk or compliance
- A methodical, detail-focused approach, with sound judgment and a commitment to accuracy
