Project Manager RiverLink

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our high performing, supportive Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Riverlink) team. This full-time position is fixed term until June 2030, based in our central Wellington office .

Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (RiverLink) is a once‑in‑a‑generation flood protection and infrastructure programme delivering major environmental and community outcomes for the Wellington region.

About the role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the delivery of RiverLink projects. You will ensure that your projects are completed to agreed levels of service for the community, and that all works comply with environmental management requirements. Your responsibilities will include: -

• Work planning
• Budget management
• Project communications
• Reporting

A key part of your work will involve identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiencies and improved systems in project planning and delivery. You will also play an important role in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in managing the delivery of projects, with the ability to plan for and deliver successful outcomes. A Project Management or Engineering qualification would be an advantage.

Key Accountabilities

• Project delivery - representing Greater Wellington in partnership and collaboration.
• Providing advice on key project matters
• Partnerships and relationships - build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and RiverLink partners
• Quality assurance, systems & reporting - develop and manage project plans, budget and timelines.

Skills and experience required

You will have experience in managing the delivery of projects, with the ability to plan for and deliver success. A Project Management or Engineering qualification would be an advantage.

Preferable experience includes:

• Experience in engineering construction and management of civil engineering, building contractors and contracts.
• Project management qualification and competency with Project Management software.
• Sound knowledge and experience in risk management and mitigation particularly in relation to project and people issues.
• Knowledge of and experience developing work plans and budgets, scheduling, programme coordination and meeting delivery targets.
• Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to anticipate potential problems, risks, then take actions to mitigate setbacks and risks.
• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workload across multiple activities.
• Understanding of financial budgeting and reporting, and operational planning.
• Practical understanding of process design, documentation, and continuous quality improvement disciplines.
• Capability in te ao Māori in line with Greater Wellington's Māori Capability Framework.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $98,508 to $147,762, with a midpoint of $123,135. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
