Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are looking for a Procurement System Specialist to join our team, playing a key role in shaping how procurement systems enable better outcomes across NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

In this role, you will lead the design, optimisation, and ongoing improvement of procurement systems to enhance user experience, streamline processes, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

You will act as the critical link between business needs, procurement practice, and technology – driving system capability, supporting adoption, and ensuring systems underpin efficient, compliant, and effective end-to-end procurement delivery.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $134,000 - $175,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

You Will Ideally Bring

• Experience working with procurement systems (e.g. SAP Ariba or similar) and applying system functionality to improve business outcomes
• Strong procurement and contract management experience across the end-to-end lifecycle
• Ability to translate business needs into system-enabled solutions and drive continuous improvement
• Experience supporting system adoption through training, guidance, and capability uplift
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, working across business groups and with digital teams and vendors
• Analytical capability to use system data and insights to inform decision-making and performance improvement
• You will also bring a proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with the confidence to influence stakeholders and drive system maturity across the organisation
