Genesis

In the moment, for the future

At Genesis, we’re always looking ahead - to new possibilities, smarter solutions, and a better energy future for Aotearoa New Zealand. Every role here plays a part in shaping what’s next, whether it’s through cutting-edge technology, bold thinking, or everyday excellence. If you’re driven by progress and inspired by purpose, this is your chance to be part of something remarkable. Step into a career where your actions today help power tomorrow.

What you’ll do

At Genesis, we know that strong relationships are built over time, through trust, respect and genuine partnerships. As Pou Māori Advisor, you'll play a key role in helping us strengthen and grow those relationships with iwi, hapū and Māori communities across Aotearoa.

Working alongside our GM Pouhere Māori, you'll be at the forefront of our engagement with Māori stakeholders. You'll help guide how we show up, how we listen, and how we build enduring partnerships that create shared value. From supporting iwi engagement and providing cultural advice, to identifying future partnership opportunities and helping shape business decisions, you'll bring a Māori lens to some of the conversations that matter most.

This is a role with real influence. You'll work across all levels of the business as a trusted source of cultural guidance, helping leaders and teams navigate cultural contexts with confidence while deepening their understanding of Te Ao Māori.

Please note that this is a full-time permanent role based in our Auckland or Hamilton office and will require regular travel to other sites and stakeholder engagements.

What you’ll need

You enjoy building relationships and can work comfortably across iwi, hapū, marae and corporate environments. You combine cultural depth with practical thinking and have a genuine desire to help others grow their understanding and confidence when engaging with Māori stakeholders.

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working with iwi, hapū, whānau and Māori organisations
  • A deep understanding of Tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Confidence leading and supporting hui, engagement activities and cultural protocols, including paepae, karakia and waerea
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively in te reo Māori
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate activities and support both strategic and operational initiatives.

How we’ll help you thrive

At Genesis, we know that every moment matters - it’s not just about the mahi today, it’s also all the other benefits that set you up for a thriving future.

Some of our benefits include:

  • Southern Cross medical insurance, plus life, trauma and income protection insurances
  • Electricity and gas discounts and an extra 20 Power Shout hours per year
  • Up to 4% match on KiwiSaver contributions or 3% with our GenSaver allowance
  • Flexible working and leave options to support you to balance personal and professional needs
  • Annual wellbeing allowance, access to Best Doctors online service for you and your family and other wellbeing offerings
  • Career development opportunities and a supportive learning culture.
