Asphalt Paving Operator

We’re looking for experienced Asphalt Paving Operators to join our Paving Crew based out of Palmerston North.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As a Paving Operator, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality surfacing works across a range of projects, from roadways and car parks to other paved surfaces. Working with specialist plant and machinery, you’ll help apply asphalt and related materials safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects of varying size and scope, with travel and periods of working away forming part of the position.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

• Operate paving machinery, including asphalt pavers, skid steers and other related equipment.

• Attend and take part in pre-start meetings, understanding hazards and Health & Safety Risks.

• Undertake general labourer duties when required to ensure project timeframes are met.

• Work closely with other paving team members, including labourers, forepersons and site supervisors.

• Paving experience – essential.

• Full Class 1 License - WTR Endorsements, Class 2 an advantage but not essential.

• Mechanical aptitude and methodical approach to work.

• An ownership towards maintenance and care of machinery.

• Customer focus and good communication skills.

• Punctual timekeeping.
