Our National Support Office in East Tamaki is looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant who is looking to take their next step in their finance career. This is an opportunity to work in a high-performing finance team, gain exposure with a large organisation, and develop your technical and commercial skills in a role where your contribution truly matters.
About the role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role supporting month-end, reporting, and operational finance activities. You will work closely with our stakeholders across the business, gaining broad exposure while building strong technical foundations, providing you with variety, visibility, and a fantastic chance to learn, develop and grow.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting month-end close, including taking ownership of posting journals and performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Providing strong financial support across the team including journal preparation, invoicing, reconciliation preparation and variance investigation
- Analysing stocktakes, identifying variances and control improvement opportunities
- Assisting with the manufacturing accounting process where required, including back-costing and invoicing
- Providing timely, quality and accurate standard reports to the wider business
- Providing strong support in finance and head office administrative tasks
- Assisting with other ad hoc finance projects, reporting and compliance requirements
About you
You are a capable finance professional who enjoys problem-solving and working in a fast-moving environment. You will bring experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role, ideally in a medium-to-large or high-volume environment.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Confidence working with Excel and financial systems
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across the business
- A relevant Accounting or Commerce qualification (or working towards one)
- Experience in inventory, manufacturing, or distribution environments is advantageous
