We are looking for a calm, capable and people-focused Safety and Security Officer to join our team. Based in the heart of Christchurch, Te Pae is a world-class venue and gateway to the magnificent South Island of New Zealand. The Centre is proudly managed by Legends Global, one of the world’s leading venue management companies.

Reporting to the Security Coordinator, this role plays an important part in creating a safe, respectful, and positive environment for our team members, visitors, contractors, and clients. It is a role where professionalism, good judgment, communication, and care for others matter just as much as technical security experience.

As part of our Safety and Security team, you will help protect people, property, and the smooth operation of the Centre. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Responding calmly and appropriately to security breaches, alerts, and alarms
• Helping maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and contractors
• Supporting emergency response and evacuation processes
• Assisting with loading dock access and coordination
• Working alongside contractors and internal teams to ensure safe and appropriate access
• Supporting health and safety compliance across the venue.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A calm and organised approach, including when working under pressure
• A current Certificate of Approval (COA) or the ability to maintain this requirement
• A current first aid certificate, or willingness to keep this current
• A genuine commitment to safety, teamwork, professionalism, and care for others

We are especially interested in hearing from people who bring empathy, strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a genuine commitment to helping others feel safe and welcome.
