Thermal Machine Operator

Key Functions And Responsibilities

• Day to day operation of our ALURO thermal break machine. This involves picking, checking, knurling, zipping together and

packing thermally broken products into skips.

• QA checking of finished products and packing dual colour orders into cases ready for despatch to APL customers.
• Work with the Store Manager, Thermal Heart/Anodising and/or ALURO Technician to gain an understanding of startup/

shutdown, performing tool changes and QA checking to ensure products are within specification.

• Promptly report any breakdowns or products out of specification as a matter of urgency to minimise machine downtime or

loss of production.

• QA checking and packing of Anodised products using our automated sorting table and spiral wrap machine.
• Other tasks as may be required by agreement from time to time.

Health and Safety

• Follow all APL Health and Safety procedures to ensure yours and others’ safety at all times
• Ensure that personal protective equipment is worn when required
• Report all accidents/near misses immediately
• Identify any hazards in your work area and report to your supervisor or Health & Safety rep immediately

Qualifications And/or Experience Required

• Experience in the aluminium industry, preferably in thermally broken products
• Experience operating a high volume thermal zipping machine, preferably Aluro brand
• Mechanical aptitude and physical fitness
• Effective communication skills
• Flexibility in terms of work and hours, including the ability to work afternoon shifts if required
• An open mind and the ability to learn
• A great customer service ethic and commitment to quality
• Experience operating overhead cranes, preferably with 3800 crane proficiency qualification or ability to gain
