This is an 8-month Fixed Term opportunity. The role is responsible for delivering accounting and tax services across the wide range of clients at Perpetual Guardian.
This is an Intermediate Accountant role and involves working closely with others in the business to prepare financial statements and tax returns as well as provide tax advisory support to the front line of our Private Client Services business.
You will be expected to provide advice to clients that may be of a technical nature, particularly as it relates to Will, Estates, Trusts, and estate planning.
About You
Our clients include Estates, Trusts, Charities and individuals, so experience providing accounting and tax services to these types of clients is preferred.
You will be well versed in New Zealand Tax Law with a detailed knowledge of accounting and taxation operations. You will also be a positive and proactive team member with a "can do" attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of financial statements and tax returns
- Providing accurate and timely client service
- Building strong relationships
- Managing and answering client queries
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations and company policy
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of the New Zealand Tax Accounting practices
- Tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Business/Commerce in Accounting (or equivalent studies)
- 2-4 years’ experience in an accounting role
- Ability to read and interpret financial data
- A positive, self-starter who is capable of working independently and with others
- Ability to communicate clearly and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to pick up new accounting software packages
- A strong sense of client focus with an attention to detail along with an ability to plan and prioritise work
