Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking a Line Mechanic (Faults) to join our Valley region crew, supporting network fault response and restoration.
Working alongside a Team Lead, you’ll be out in the field responding to faults, restoring power, and helping keep the network running. This is a great role for someone who likes variety, problem-solving, and being part of a strong crew.
Based in Matamata, your day-to-day will include:
- Responding to overhead and underground network faults across the region
- Locating issues and helping restore power safely
- Carrying out switching under direction
- Completing repairs on lines, poles, and equipment
- Supporting your Team Lead and crew on-site
- Keeping job records and basic reporting up to date Taking part in on-call and storm response when required
This is a full-time, permanent role with consistent work and great earning potential with our overtime faults rostering.
Ngā pūkenga matua | Important Skills
You’re a capable Line Mechanic who takes pride in safe, reliable work and enjoys being part of a team.
- Registered Line Mechanic with current practising licence
- Experience working on electricity distribution networks
- Exposure to fault response work
- Good understanding of safe work practices and SMEI
- Ability to follow direction and work well in a crew
- Strong focus on safety and doing the job right Full NZ Driver Licence (Class 1, Class 2 preferred)
