Team Leader Line Mechanic Faults - Matamata

Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is looking for an experienced Faults Line Mechanic Team Lead to join our Valley region team, supporting electricity network fault response and restoration.

This is a practical, hands-on role where you’ll stay close to the work while guiding your team. You’ll help respond to faults, organise switching, support your crew, and keep work running smoothly.

Based in Matamata and reporting to the Faults Response Manager, your day-to-day will include:

• Responding to network faults and restoring power safely
• Carrying out and supporting switching activities
• Leading and supporting a small field crew
• Helping plan and organise daily work and priorities
• Keeping the control room and team updated on progress
• Completing job records and basic reporting
Supporting storm response and on-call work when required

This is a full-time, permanent role with consistent work and a chance to step into a leadership position while staying hands-on in the field.

You’re an experienced Faults Line Mechanic, ready to step up as a Lead, who enjoys working in the field and supporting others to do their best work.

• Registered Line Mechanic with a current practising licence
• Experience in fault response on distribution networks
• Confidence with switching and working safely on the network
• Ability to lead or guide a crew
• Strong focus on safety and doing the job right
• Good communication skills
Full NZ Driver Licence (Class 2 preferred)
