This organisation operates within a complex, multi-system environment supporting a large end-user base across New Zealand. With a strong focus on stability, security, and continuous improvement, the business is investing in strengthening its application support capability and Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

You'll act as the go-to technical specialist for high-priority and complex issues across applications and Microsoft 365. You'll take full ownership of incidents from diagnosis through to resolution, ensuring minimal disruption to end users.

This role is highly hands-on and spans a broad environment, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft 365 services. You will also play a key role in improving overall support quality by identifying trends, resolving underlying issues, and lifting the capability of the wider Service Desk function.

Your day-to-day will involve

  • Managing and resolving escalated technical issues across systems, applications, and user environments
  • Investigating recurring faults and implementing long-term fixes to improve system reliability
  • Supporting and maintaining Microsoft 365 services, including collaboration and content platforms
  • Acting as the senior escalation point and guiding junior analysts on complex troubleshooting
  • Working closely with third-party vendors to resolve issues and optimise system performance
  • Contributing to system updates, releases, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining clear documentation to support ongoing support operations
  • Ensuring systems meet security, access, and compliance standards

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior IT support or application support role
  • Strong technical expertise across Microsoft 365, including collaboration, identity, and cloud-based services
  • Hands-on experience supporting SharePoint environments and managing permissions and structure
  • Broad troubleshooting capability across devices, operating systems, applications, and networks
  • Experience working within an escalation-based or tiered support structure
  • A proactive approach to problem management, with strong analytical and root cause skills
  • Experience supporting live, business-critical systems with a strong sense of ownership

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with endpoint/device management tools (e.g. Intune or Workspace ONE)
  • Scripting or automation exposure (PowerShell or similar)
  • Industry certifications (ITIL, Microsoft, or security-related)
  • Understanding of access control, identity management, and security best practices
