We are seeking a Water Transmission Operations Engineer to join our Operations team, based in Newmarket. This is a critical role responsible for providing engineering and operational support across water transmission assets, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of services to our communities.
In this role, you will work across asset operations, maintenance coordination, and infrastructure projects, acting as a key point of contact for operational responses and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing engineering support for water transmission assets across the region
- Undertaking operational assessments and contributing to asset renewal and upgrade programmes
- Coordinating with maintenance delivery teams and contractors to execute planned works and shutdowns
- Supporting infrastructure projects and ensuring protection of critical assets
- Managing operational expenditure (OPEX) and contributing to capital renewal planning
- Providing 24/7 operational support as part of an on-call roster
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, contractors, and customers to deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused outcomes.

You are an experienced engineer with a strong operational mindset and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. You bring both technical expertise and strong relationship skills to deliver excellent outcomes.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
- A tertiary qualification in engineering
- Experience in contract management and working with customers and contractors
- Strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills
- Proven ability to work with and coordinate field-based teams
- A strong focus on health, safety, and operational excellence
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage competing priorities
It Would Be Advantageous If You Also Have
- Experience in water or wastewater operations, particularly transmission networks
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards it
You will demonstrate resilience, sound problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, while maintaining a strong customer focus and commitment to continuous improvement.
