Painter

GJ GLASS GROUP LIMITED

We are looking for one experienced painter to join our team.

You will be paid an hourly rate of $30.00 to $40.00 depending on your experience and skill level. You will be working in Auckland. This role will be a permanent, full-time position and will be guaranteed 30 hours of work per week from Monday to Saturday but can be up to 50 hours weekly.

Paid weekly, 4 weeks annual leave, Statutory holidays, Sick and bereavement leave. Opportunities to upskill.

Candidates need to be able to start immediately and work lawfully in New Zealand

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

– Work with customers on colour selection and finishes

– Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary

– Calculate materials required for a job

– Erect scaffolding under five meters high

– Prepare, clean, and tape all jobsites.

– Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.

– Fill holes, cracks and joins, and clean surfaces of dust and dirt.

– Mix and match paint colours.

– Mix and apply paints, varnishes, and sealants for a lasting finish.

– Cut and hang wallpaper, vinyl and backing paper.

– Apply paint and decorative paint finishes such as glazing, graining, marbling and lettering.

– Applies various finishes to buildings, rooms, or other structures, including primers or sealers.

– Move necessary materials around jobsite as assigned.

The successful candidate must have

  • At least two years of on-site work experience or Level 4 painting skills certificate
  • Motivated, good work attitude and good communication skills
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Physically fit and able to handle the heavy workload
  • Quality workmanship and eye for detail
  • Commitment to health and workplace safety
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Able to pass health, drug and criminal checks if required
