He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

We have an exciting opportunity as a Nerve Centre Operator, to provide monitoring and coordination support to our water supply and wastewater operations/maintenance teams. This role will be based in our new, state of the art Nerve Centre. The Nerve Centre is a collaborative environment utilising evolving technology to deliver high performing operations and exceptional customer service. There will be opportunity for growth as the Nerve Centre matures.

Duties

In this role you will maintain water and wastewater system operations, manage alarms, schedule work and coordinate with our maintenance contractors. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor data generated by our SCADA systems and escalate appropriately
  • Provide a monitoring service for people, assets and security systems
  • Maintain effective communications between the operating components of the business unit
  • Ensure data capture and recording meets operations and control requirements
  • Update data manually in the event of a data loss due to system failure.
  • Receive and respond to telephone calls (staff, contractors & escalations)
  • Operate radio equipment to contact staff or deal with emergencies.
  • Create strong and successful working relationships with external and internal stakeholders

To Be Successful In The Role, You Will

  • Have experience in using computerised database systems (SCADA)
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication abilities
  • Be detailed focused and demonstrate the ability to manage events through effective prioritisation
  • Have experience working in a technical environment (trade, engineering, technical operations etc) along with 3 years’ experience in a process or production control environment.
  • Be available to work shifts on a 24/7 roster and provide on-call support.
