Location: Otorohanga & Te Kuiti Plants
Position Purpose
Lead and coordinate frontline operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production and dispatch of Graymont products. The role is responsible for production planning, dispatch coordination, inventory management, team leadership, operational excellence, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Demonstrate and promote Graymont’s commitment to Zero Injuries through compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Observe, recognize, and provide feedback on safe and unsafe behaviours.
- Participate in health, safety, housekeeping, and site meetings.
- Ensure timely reporting, recording, and investigation of incidents, near misses, and hazards using company systems.
- Follow up on corrective actions within required timeframes.
- Comply with all environmental policies and operating procedures.
- Take reasonable precautions to minimise environmental risks and promptly report any environmental concerns, incidents, or hazards.
People Leadership
- Coordinate and supervise daily activities of frontline operational employees.
- Establish clear priorities, allocate resources, and monitor work execution.
- Lead, coach, and support team members to achieve safety, production, quality, and performance objectives.
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and positive employee relations.
- Provide regular feedback, training, and development opportunities to build workforce capability and flexibility.
Production Planning & Operations
- Develop and manage production plans based on sales forecasts and inventory requirements.
- Coordinate production, dispatch, and operational activities to meet customer demand.
- Monitor and report production performance against targets.
- Create, update, and maintain production data within JDE, ensuring data accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Forecast stock levels for Quicklime and Hydrate products.
Dispatch & Logistics
- Coordinate product dispatch activities and liaise closely with transport providers to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Ensure all inbound and outbound product documentation is accurately processed and recorded in JDE.
- Identify and implement improvements to dispatch processes and efficiencies.
Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Manage site inventories of consumables including PPE, bags, pallets, diesel, and other operational supplies.
- Create purchase requisitions, process receipts, and support supplier payment enquiries.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted site operations.
Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
- Encourage employee participation in operational improvement programs.
Teamwork & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, management, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, logistics, planning, and safety teams.
- Communicate operational decisions and changes that impact the workforce.
- Represent the Otorohanga Plant at internal meetings and external activities as required.
Reporting & Administration
- Utilise company systems and reporting tools effectively.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of production, inventory, material usage, and energy consumption data into JDE.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly production and operational reports.
- Maintain accurate records and support business reporting requirements.
Other Duties
- Undertake additional duties consistent with skills, training, and operational requirements as directed.
Essential
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing operations environment.
- Experience coordinating frontline operational activities.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and JDE (or similar ERP systems).
- Strong planning, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Full Class 1 (Car) Driver’s Licence.
Preferred
- Previous experience leading or supervising frontline teams.
- Experience influencing and collaborating across multiple functional areas.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement operational improvement initiatives.
