Head of Risk Oversight – Technology, Cyber, Data, AI & Programme Risk

At ASB, we’re on a significant journey, one that will reshape how we identify, manage and embed non-financial risk across the Bank. This is about more than frameworks, it’s about strengthening resilience, accountability and trust in how we operate every day.

To support this, we’re building out our senior leadership capability within Line 2 Technology Risk & Programme Oversight. We are now recruiting three critical leadership roles, each playing a distinct but connected part in lifting how risk is owned and managed across ASB.

These roles offer a rare opportunity to operate at scale, influence enterprise-wide outcomes, and shape how risk supports safe and successful delivery of our modernisation agenda.

Ngā Tūranga | The Opportunities

We’re hiring across three specialist domains:

• Head of Technology & Cyber Risk Oversight
• • Independent oversight of technology and cyber security risks across the enterprise
  • Strengthening cyber resilience and control effectiveness across a complex technology landscape
• Head of Data, AI & Resilience Risk Oversight
• • Oversight of Data, AI, Third-Party and Business Disruption risks
  • Enabling safe adoption of emerging capabilities while strengthening operational resilience
• Head of Programme & Portfolio Risk Oversight
• • Oversight of ASB’s significant portfolio of change programmes and delivery risk
  • Ensuring major transformation initiatives are delivered within risk appetite

Across all three roles, you will report to the GM Technology Risk & Programme Oversight and lead specialist Line 2 teams.

Te Tūranga | What you’ll do

While each role has a distinct domain, the core accountability is consistent:

• Provide independent, specialist Line 2 oversight across key non-financial risk areas
• Ensure risks are identified early, assessed, monitored, and managed within risk appetite
• Deliver clear, timely and insightful risk reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders
• Strengthen governance, monitoring and control effectiveness across critical risk domains
• Embed a mature Three Lines of Accountability model with clear delineation of responsibilities
• Provide constructive challenge and trusted advice to senior leaders to enable risk-informed decisions
• Build and lead high-performing specialist teams that deliver meaningful risk outcomes
• Partner across Business, Technology and Transformation to embed risk into strategy and delivery

• Deep experience in operational risk, compliance and regulatory environments within complex financial services

  • Programme delivery and change risk
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguity, link risk to strategy, and anticipate emerging risks
• A track record of influencing at senior leadership and Board level
• Strong leadership capability with experience building and leading high-performing teams
• The confidence and judgement to challenge constructively while maintaining independence
