Due to an internal promotion, we now have an opportunity in our small dynamic and collaborative NZ Distributor team for an early-career

Assistant Accountant. This is your chance to develop your technical and commercial accounting skills and continue towards achievement of CA with an exceptionally supportive leader and team.

You’ll own core accounting processes across rebates, pricing, debtors, and month-end reporting, maintain accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and reconciliations.

  • Managing rebate commitments, analysing performance, processing payments and reconciliations, and partnering with Sales on pricing and claim approvals
  • Maintaining the Global Price Management (GPM) tool as the single source of truth and presenting key insights in monthly sales meetings
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts and investigating variances
  • Performing daily and month-end bank reconciliations and maintaining the integrity of NZ debtors' balances with monthly reporting
  • Overseeing CAPEX reporting and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register in alignment with project timelines
  • Supporting the Financial Accountant and Inventory Controller with inventory reports, integrity checks, cycle counts, and consignment and inter-location stock movements
  • Supporting month-end close, journal entries, and preparation of monthly and annual (audited) accounts
  • Continuously improving financial controls, process documentation, and internal training, and ensuring compliance with Group financial policies and NZ regulatory requirements
  • Rotating across accounting tasks to build broad capability and cross-functional coverage within the team.

Our ideal candidate…

You’ll have up to a year of post-grad experience and be committed to ongoing learning and working towards CA. You’ll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to grasp and understand complex business issues and translate to non-financial stakeholders, a customer-facing aptitude and an ability to time manage competing demands and priorities. You’re self-motivated and display initiative and are solutions focused. Importantly you will work collaboratively across broad set of stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes for the business.
