Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid – the high-voltage network that moves electricity from where it is generated to the distributors and lines companies who take it to towns, cities, homes, hospitals, and businesses across the country. As New Zealand electrifies more of its economy, and electricity demand increases, our work and how we achieve it becomes even more important.
About The Team
Our Grid Development division of : 200 engineering, technical and economic specialists, looks ahead to understand what New Zealand’s electricity network needs will be over the next 20 to 30 years. The team considers things like growing electricity demand, new generation, how the existing Grid can meet that need and what needs to change to remain reliable and fit for the future. It is thoughtful, long-term work that helps shape investment and infrastructure decisions for Aotearoa.
About The Opportunity – Due To Lateral Promotion
Located in our Wellington head office, this role provides highly effective and professional administration support to the Grid Development team. Varied and fast-paced, it involves anticipating needs, coordinating moving parts, and helping busy managers and specialists stay organised, connected and on track.
You will be involved in a broad mix of work, including:
- Coordinating meetings, workshops, and team logistics, including agendas, papers, minutes, room bookings, catering and technology setup.
- Supporting onboarding and offboarding, travel bookings, office coordination and general team administration.
- Providing financial administration support such as purchase orders, invoice processing, accruals, contract administration and budget information.
- Maintaining accurate records, filing, team information and shared resources across systems such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint and financial systems.
- Building positive working relationships with managers, administrators in other teams and our EA’s, internal teams, suppliers and other stakeholders. You’ll look for ways to improve workflows, keep things running smoothly and strengthen team effectiveness.

A positive and solution focused approach! You enjoy variety, work well with multiple priorities, and take pride in delivering high-quality support. You won’t need to come from the electricity sector, but you will be curious, adaptable and confident in learning new systems, acronyms, and context.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate
- Proven experience in an administration, coordination or office support role supporting multiple managers and/or teams.
- Strong organisation skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to work at pace while managing expectations. You can context switch, spot issues early, follow through and have helped improve processes over time.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and picking up unfamiliar tools quickly; experience with SharePoint and financial systems will be an advantage.
