Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec prides itself on being a progressive and visionary employer in the educational arena, providing high-quality education and training within a multicultural environment.

We are looking for someone who is ākonga (student) and outcomes-focused to teach across our NZ Diploma in Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, and Graduate Diploma Civil Engineering programmes. You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a passion for supporting student success. You will enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial hands-on experience from the New Zealand civil engineering industry and be able to connect engineering theory with real-world practice. We are particularly interested in applicants with proven experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Civil engineering site investigations and fieldwork
    • Land surveying and survey data processing
    • Civil engineering design, detailing and technical drawing
    • Construction and site management
    • Geotechnical engineering and earthworks
    • Highway and infrastructure projects

Teaching experience is desirable but not essential. We will support you if you have not taught in a tertiary environment before through induction, mentoring, professional development, and opportunities to observe and learn from experienced educators.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience and competency in industry-standard software such as Civil 3D, 12d, Revit, and other CAD packages.

Applicants must hold a BE(Civil), or a postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering, together with a minimum of three years' recent experience working in the New Zealand civil engineering industry. Strong industry networks, a learner-centred approach, and a passion for education are highly valued.
